DS-I Africa is an NIH funded program supported by the Office of the Director along with 11 NIH Institutes, Centers and Offices. The DS-I Africa consortium comprises of a coordinating center, an open data science platform, seven (7) research hubs, seven (7) data science research training programs and four (4)projects dedicated to exploring the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) of data science research.
The vision of DS-I Africa is to create and support a robust pan-continental network of data scientists that will be equipped to apply advanced data science skills to transform health. This network aims to harness data science technologies to transform biomedical and behavioral research and develop solutions that would lead to improved health for individuals and populations.
