DATA MANAGEMENT AND ANALYSIS (DMA) AND NEXT GENERATION SEQUENCING (NGS) CORE
DMAC leads data sharing efforts with the Open Science Data Platform and coordinating center (OSDP &CC) and other DS-I Africa funded projects. The core manages the Hub’s existing data on SARS-CoV-2 and HIV through the Terra workspace that enables INFORM Africa researchers and others to take advantage of large datasets in the cloud; and generates additional data through its NGS as needed.
PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR
Tulio De Oliveira, PhD
Prof de Oliveira’s research interests concentrate on viral evolution under selection pressure created in the transmission, acquisition, and drug escape processes. A particular point of interest is the study of viruses’ origins and the effect of the network of transmissions in the spread of epidemics in Africa and other continents. He also enjoys developing bioinformatics software applications and running a next-generation sequencing (NGS) and innovation research centre.
